The Self Manager Hub is pleased to host a practical workshop with the Australian Taxation Office for NDIS participants and nominees who directly engage their own support workers.
This session is specifically for participants and nominees who directly engage their support workers and want to better understand whether a support worker is an employee or a contractor. It is also designed to help you understand your tax and super obligations when you take on the responsibility for engaging your supports.
The session will cover the difference between employees and contractors, what to think about before engaging a support worker as a contractor or employee, how to work out whether someone is really a contractor or an employee, and what your responsibilities are for tax withholding and superannuation in each situation.
The ATO will also provide updated information about complying with Payday Super. The session will also touch on related tax issues affecting services for one, including microboards.
There will be time for questions and answers, and some questions may be taken on notice if needed. Participants are encouraged to include relevant questions on the registration form, and we will do our best to answer them during the workshop.
