The Minister for the NDIS has made significant NDIS announcements about the future of the Scheme, alongside important budget decisions that could affect people who self-manage and self-direct our NDIS supports.

Sam Paior and Dr George Taleporos hosted this practical Self Manager Hub workshop and unpacked what the NDIS announcements and budget could mean for self-management and self-direction.

You can read our initial breakdown of Minister Butler’s announcement here.

    We discussed:

    • The key NDIS announcements made by the Minister for the NDIS
    • What the budget may signal about the future of the Scheme
    • What these changes could mean for self-management and self-direction
    • The likely timeline for proposed changes
    • The Parliamentary processes that need to happen before changes come into effect
    • Possible impacts on choice, control, and flexibility
    • What self-managers may need to prepare for
    • The questions we still need government, the NDIA, and the NDIS Commission to answer
    • How our community can raise concerns and advocate for practical solutions

You can find Sam’s slide from the workshop here.
