Our CEO Dr. George Taleporos hosted this workshop where we answered the questions you have been struggling to get answered. We heard your concerns and learnt what is happening for you.

Sam Paior gave a short presentation unpacking what the latest legislation and operational changes mean for people who self-manage and self-direct their NDIS supports.

We discussed:

  • What the new legislation confirms about price caps for self-managed participants
  • Why directing your own team of support workers is not classed as Supported Independent Living (SIL)
  • The new high-risk provider registration requirements coming into effect from July 2027, and what’s still unclear
  • What’s changed under the new short-term accommodation guidelines, and who is eligible
  • How to make sense of claim pop-ups, cancellations, and rejections
  • Questions from the community on shared living, support worker shifts, and turning 65
  • What we want to focus on next, including formal recognition of self-direction as a support category

This workshop is for people who self-manage or self-direct their supports, as well as families, supporters, and allies who want to learn what is happening on the ground.
