Spending NDIS funds and making claims: Your rights and responsibilities when self-managing and how to avoid common mistakes

Knowing what you can spend NDIS funding on, how to make a claim, and what records to keep can sometimes be difficult.

Join Self Manager Hub and the NDIA for a practical online workshop on making effective NDIS claims, avoiding common mistakes, and keeping the records you need.

We’ll cover:

  • What you can use NDIS funding for.
  • How to make an effective claim, including tips to get it right the first time.
  • Common reasons claims are rejected and what to consider when resubmitting.
  • What records to keep.

You’ll also have an opportunity to share your experiences and help improve the NDIA’s draft guide on spending, claiming, and record keeping. We’ll explore selected parts of the draft and work through examples and scenarios together.

The guide is still being developed, and your feedback will help identify what is clear, what is confusing, and whether the examples reflect real self-management experiences.

The session will begin with a 30-minute presentation, followed by an hour for discussion, questions, and feedback.

Please submit questions when you register so the presenters can be prepared to answer them. You’re also welcome to ask questions and share your experiences in the chat during the workshop.

Who should attend?

This session is for people who self-manage their NDIS funding, and nominees, family members, and supporters who assist with self-management.

You do not need to know anything about the new guide before attending. Come along with your questions, experiences, and ideas.

Register to join the conversation and help shape the new guide.

This workshop will have Auslan interpreters and live captions.

The session will not be recorded. Workshop materials will be shared afterwards, along with a summary of participant feedback and next steps.
